During December of 2012, District 1's Community Policing Team held their 5th Annual Aloha No Na Kupuna (Love For Our Elderly) Senior Safety Conference. The main focus of this event was emergency preparedness, injury prevention, and health and wellness through tai chi. A week later, a number of lucky seniors were treated to Kupuna Shop with a Cop at Walgreens in Kalihi. This provided a special opportunity for HPD officers to meet with senior citizens in their district, as they go shopping for daily essentials and specialty items that they need. Later, the seniors got to take pictures with Santa Claus to cap off a great day of shopping. https://www.expedia.com/Honolulu.d1488.Destination-Travel-Guides Welcome to Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii. Stationed on the island of Oahu, Honolulu is ready to show you surf and sun like you’ve never seen before. Whether you’re here to live the life of a beach bum or want to explore the city’s lush tropical surroundings, you’ll find everything you’re looking for on your Honolulu tour. Hawaii had a pretty explosive inception—Diamond Head Crater, also called Leahi, started life as an active volcano. Don’t worry; it’s since gone dormant, which means you can climb to the rim and take in a truly brilliant view of the coast. Head back down to the water and go paddleboarding or swimming; “Honolulu” means “sheltered bay,” and the beachfront here lives up to its name: It’s calm and sheltered y...

This is the last of the series of First Amendment Audits that I conducted on March 20, 2017. This was also at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam over on the Hickam Air Force base side at the Kuntz gate. I had already had interaction with the same security forces that protect this gate at the Pearl Harbor audit a couple hours ago. I let them know that I would also be coming over to this base when I left there believing that this would stop anything from going wrong at this gate. It didn't work. Not long after arriving I was approached by several Hawaii Sheriff deputies because they thought I was filming the Honolulu International Airport that was behind me. Keep in mind that last March a deputy cited a photographer for taking photographs at this same airport and the ACLU and Attorney Generals...

This is the first of five First Amendment Audits conducted on March 29, 2017. This audit was conducted at the Honolulu International Airport. Late into the audit, I received a phone call from a friend of mine who works at the airport who informed me that he overheard a couple other airport employees talking about me auditing the airport today, but they didn't know where I would be at. Apparently, someone at the airport has been reading my YouTube comments and had a heads-up about today's audit. Not surprisingly because of this I received no contact during the audit. I had a few curious Airport Police officers watching me from inside the fence, but none of them approached me. I did take some still photos with the new zoom lens today and I uploaded a few into this video so that you can g...
Aloha Airlines flight between Hilo and Honolulu in Hawaii. On April 28, 1988, a Boeing 737-297 serving the flight suffered extensive damage after an explosive decompression in flight, but was able to land safely at Kahului Airport on Maui. There was one fatality, flight attendant Clarabelle "C.B." Lansing, who was ejected from the airplane. Another 65 passengers and crew were injured. The safe landing of the aircraft despite the substantial damage inflicted by the decompression established Aloha Airlines Flight 243 as a significant event in the history of aviation, with far-reaching effects on aviation safety policies and procedures. This is the fifth and final First Amendment Audit in the series I conducted on March 29, 2017. You may have heard the name "Halawa Correctional Facility" if you happen to watch the television series Hawaii Five-O. Halawa has been featured several times throughout the series, including a prison riot. Unfortunately, the Halawa Correctional Facility that is used in the television show is not the actual Halawa facility as you can see by the footage I shot during my audit. This audit started off on a bad note when I am immediately approached by a guard that tries to say that I can not film the facility. We have a brief exchange where I completely ignore his unlawful orders and continue my filming as he walks off trying to figure out how to deal with someone who doesn't obey his orders. Pris...

Since we have been having such good luck with the recent audits of military bases I wanted to check out the US Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point located in Kalaeloa, Hawaii just south of Kapolei, Hawaii. I was met with a very aggressive private security guard that not only did not know the law regarding public photography from a publically accessible area, but he even had the gall to claim that HE WAS THE LAW. This security guard is clearly a law enforcement reject that has let the tin badge he wears go to his head. Unfortunately, I let this guard get under my skin today as you will see from my response to him. As I attempted to walk away from him to continue filming the base he revved his engine as though he was going to run over me with his car. Then he made a racial slur that I ne...

Flight 612 from Honolulu to Los Angeles Taken from Seat 5A - Business Elite Aircraft N194DN Takeoff from the Reef Runway. We hit some bumps a few hours into the flight as the sun was setting. We approached LAX from the south over Long Beach and landed on Runway 25L. I would have filmed the taxi to the gate, however, we were approximately 30 minutes early and our gate was occupied so we sat out on the taxiway for a while.
